It is with great sadness that staff and students at Parkwood Sixth Form, William Parker Sports College and Helenswood School have learnt of the death of Jacob Woudstra during the Easter break. The loss of a young life with so much potential has shocked all sections of our learning community. Our thoughts and good wishes are with Jacob’s family and friends at this most difficult time.

The death of Jacob has understandably caused a great deal of shock, especially by those of you who knew him personally.
Sussex Police would like to stress that this was not a random attack, and no-one else is at risk. We are still early into our investigation but it would appear that Jacob died following a dispute in a local pub between people who knew each other - in other words, this was not a stranger attack. We appreciate that this crime will cause a lot of fear and anxiety amongst you, but we do not want you to be unduly alarmed. Our thoughts remain with Jacob's family and we will do everything we can to ensure that those responsible for his death are ultimately brought to justice.
Anyone with information who has not yet come forward is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Chinook. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
